Estate Planning
Estate Planning is a complex issue. Usually it involves growing the estate value (investment management and tax management), and protect that value for the benefit of those you love and care about (estate management).
What has been surprising in our career, is that often an estate plan has been created, and over time, no adjustments have been made to keep the estate plan current. We all think that we will live forever, and that we will have ample time to make things right before we die or become disabled. More often that we care to admit, life is not fair and we are left dealing with situations that end up with assets lost, forced sales (even of homes), families torn apart or they end up suing one-another - just because the family head refused to keep their estate plan current.
It happened to Pat's family, and many of our friends and client's families. We would hate to see that happen to yours.
